Progress on C. diff, but no radiation appointments scheduled yet

Another great pen and ink drawing David did in 1975. This one is of Moore Hall at University of Georgia.

We got good news yesterday: David's latest stool test was negative for C diff. This means the Flagyl antibiotic is finally making progress fighting the intestinal infection. Dr. Oh wants David to stay on the Flagyl until three stool tests come back negative, so it will still at least a couple more weeks before he can stop taking Flagyl.

As of noon today, no one from Dr. Vonk's office had called yet to set up David's radiation preparation appointments for the MRI, CT scan, and mask, so I called this afternoon. Apparently Medicare and David's supplemental insurance have to authorize these. Dr. Vonk's scheduler has requested the authorizations, so now she is waiting to hear back. She said she'd probably hear back soon and the appointments would occur sometime next week. I hope so, because the sooner the radiation is done, the sooner the cancer won't be growing and the sooner David can get off the Decadron (Dexamethasone) steroid pills. The pills are causing severe insomnia and the cancer continues to cause issues with movement and balance, which lead to nausea and throwing up.
